Anatomical Alphabet

This was a personal project that escalated into creating a full alphabet of sickly and diseased letters. Inspired by the beautiful and obscene 18th century medical illustrations throughout the book ‘The Sick Rose’ I was fascinated by the idea of looking at the diseases through an artists personal representation rather than photography and wanted to take that a step further. By taking the human element out and representing the disease purely by its name one is looking at it through its distinct attributes the viewer must see the disease purely through its effects.
